Too Much

Right now I feel like I have so much going on health wise I am going to lose it.
I feel like my body is betraying me. I feel like I have betrayed my body.

I feel like no one quite understands. I feel like I should not complain.
I feel sad, confused,mad,angry,upset,scared,afraid and many other things I can't quite put into words.

Being diagnosed with Intracranial Hypertension, aka: Pseudotumor Cerebri, has just turned my world upside down.

I am trying to keep the faith.
I pray a lot, like a a lot a lot. I feel that is all I can do.
I just want this all to go away.

My husband has been super extremely supportive. Sometime, most times, I feel like he is the only one that is supporting me.
Maybe my family just does not understand what I go through on a day to day basis.

I wish I had friends. That sounds so lame and pathetic, but I really don't have any out here I see or talk to on a daily or regular basis. I long for a best friend.Someone besides my amazing hubby. I am sure someone out there understands. Someone I can talk to anytime about anything. Someone I can be there for, whether it is 2 in the afternoon or 2 in the am. Don't most females want some female friends? At least 1 close friend? Whatever I guess.

Past few days just have not been good. Maybe I should start writing here more. Maybe this can be my therapy of some kind, I don't know. Maybe my blog can be my new friend haha.

Artichoke Spinach dip

I have got to share this recipe.
I have made it many times and I think it is just delicious.
Maybe not the most healthy thing, but that's okay :-)

4 cloves garlic (if I do not have any I just use a bit of garlic powder)
1 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained
1 (14 ounce) can artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
1 (10 ounce) container Alfredo-style pasta sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Place garlic in a small baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven 20 to 30 minutes, until soft. Remove from heat. When cool enough to touch, squeeze softened garlic from skins.
In an 8x8 inch baking dish, spread the roasted garlic, spinach, artichoke hearts, Alfredo-style pasta sauce, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese and cream cheese.
Cover and bake in the preheated oven 30 minutes, or until cheeses are melted and bubbly. Serve warm.

I just wanted to write a little bit about crafting....
I am addicted to ALL things crafts.

I never knew I could be so obsessed with all this stuff.
Years ago I never thought my absolute favorite stores would be Joanns, Michaels or Hobby Lobby.
I never ever ever in 5789743 million years thought I would be into sewing.
It is SEW;-) much fun though!

Everywhere I go now, I look to see if I can find something to craft with.
It has become a sickness haha!

It is a great way to pass time though, doing all these crafts.
My problem though is I spend to much time in my craft room then I do doing the things around the house that need to be done....OOPS

So this post is pretty much just a bunch of rambling but that's alright...

off to go craft some more :-)

Altered wood frames...and a letter

So I am pretty sure everyone knows about the $1 wooden frames from Michaels but I just discovered them. I ventured out from the rock that I live under the other day and had a little fun at Michaels.

This is what they looked like before.
They are 8" frames with a 3.5" x 3.5" spot for the picture.

I used distress ink on this one all around it. No paint at all. The paper is attache using Mod Podge. The little saying in the corner was made using a clear stamp and some white cardstock that I inked up using distress ink.
I colored the edges and the inside of this with a sharpie. :-) I used some black ink around the edges on the paper. I made the little flowers myself.

I inked the tips of the roses and added a bit of glitter glue to them. I painted the back of this one using my free paint sample from Vlaspar. The color is called Rapids.
The paper was decoupaged on and the back and edges were painted with another sample from Valspar :-) I got the flowers from Scrapbuck.com, which is a very bad place, in a very good way :-)

Alright so I have pretty much neglected my blog since I was so busy with wedding stuff and...well just stuff in general.

I thought it would be fun to do a few posts of the wedding.
For now I think I will just do one post with a bunch of pictures and then maybe I will do a few individual ones on different aspects of the wedding,

I gotta say though, the wedding was better then I could have ever imagined!

Burned

Alright so about 3 weeks ago I was cooking some raviolli for dinner.
It came time for me to drain the ravioli so I grabbed the pot and proceeded to take it over to the sink to empty it out.

Well.....
As I was pouring the STUPID pot I spilled the BOILING HOT water all over my stomach.
It hurt sooooo bad. I could feel my skin boiling, burning, etc.
I automatically lifted my shirt off my stomach (which I later learned I should have just left it there) and I saw the huge skin thing hangin off my belly.

It looked like a huge blister just had popped. If I left my shirt alone it would have formed a blister. I mean really though, who would just leave something on themselves that is causing them pain...My first reaction was to get the stupid thing off.

Over the next few days it really started to look...gross.....I am pretty sure it was infected at one point or another because I saw....stuff....coming from it...yuck!
So after we got our taxes done we figured we would pop on over to the urgent care that is about 1.5 miles from our house. We could not find it, so we went home. Apparently it closed.

So I have just been putting antibiotic ointment on it constantly and keeping it covered at night. It is slowly starting to heal. it itches a lot on the outside of the burn.

I am taking a antibiotic, oh but its not for my burn..it's for THE STUPID FINGER INFECTION I GOT ( look up paronychia).

So I just wanted to post about this because I am pretty sure my husband is tired of hearing me complain about either my burn hurting/itching and my finger being so swollen I could barely bend it.

Been A Long Time.....

Wow it sure has been a long time since I have written on this blog!

So much has happened since oh..July of last year.

The wedding was awesome!!

Nothing else major to report..haha

I am trying out a new little business venture idea.

Started this a few days ago...no sale yet, but I am hopeful.

A whole bunch of randomness

Ahhhh where to even begin???
I have been pretty bust just doing a whole bunch of random things.

1. Got my wedding shoes. They are actually platform flip flops, about 1.5" thick. They are white and have some sequins on them. I like them and I do not care if one person has anything negative to say about me wearing flip flops with my wedding dress haha! They way I see it I wanna be comfortable through the whole entire thing and not have to change shoes so there ya go!

2. I have about 67589476894576 things left to do for the wedding and we are now officially under 4 months until the big day.

3. I went to Cali in June to see my Sister graduate high school. It was a lot of fun.

4. Josh and I went to help out these people that rescue dogs. It was super duper hot out. They had over 100 dogs there. They were so well taken care of it amazed me. It was really hard to not bring them ALL home.

5. We have found like over 5 scorpions in or around our house this year. GROSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS Yeah I hate bugs. We have also had these big huge ugly carpenter worms. You would think we lived in some kind of dirty nasty house with all the bugs we find but we really don't, promise! We also have a bug guy that comes once a month so ummmmm what is he spraying when he sprays inside and outside...bug food...water??? Need to talk with that man..

6.I have discovered a super yummy delish recipe for fried chicken. Josh said it has a better flavor to it then the big name chicken places out there. He might be lying to my but I will take it! Let me know if you want the recipe!

7. We are really starting to look into places to move to in the future. Amarillo, Texas is number one on the list right now. We both LOVE it there so much. We are actually going there after the wedding, with our dogs hahha.

8. I had this weird gross ugly nasty thing growing on my toe. It was seriously huge, looked like a ugly potato and was the size of a grape. I got it removed and turns out it was a non cancerous tumor. Thank God it is gone!

9. I am really having a lot of fun with Happy Mail. I have met some really awesome people. One in particular makes it all worth it. :-)

10. I am listening to Christmas music as I type this. I have been listening to it for a little over a week now. Don't judge.

Well that is my randomness updated facts for now.

Bird Watching

We like to watch the birds in the backyard & today I decided to snap a few pics.

We have a bird feeder that we fill up with wild bird seed about every 2 days and we get a TON of birds coming to it. It is pretty interesting all the different types we get.

I wanted to post some pics of a few wedding things so here goes..

This is a pic of my wedding band from the website. I love the pincess cut diamonds that are in it.

This is a pic of my engagement ring & the wedding band together. I really like how they look together. Josh did good :-)

I changed my invites to these ones from Joanns. I really like how simple they are yet they still look really nice.

I REALLY like how this card box turned out. The only thing I have to do to it is fasten the ribbon to the box and make a little card sign.

I kinda got tired of just having a plain ol' dining room table. It is a pretty small table but there is only 2 of us in the house so it is perfect for us.

It is not much, and I just used what I had on hand but I like it.
I am going to add some candles to it as soon as I get some.

Wedding update

Lots of wedding related things have been going on in the past month.

I got my dress & I love it!!!! I plan on doing a whole separate post on that later.

I got some new invitations. I am still going to be using the other ones that I purchased. The new ones are pocket-fold ones and will have info on hotels and directions for all the out of town people.

I got some wooden letters that spell out I DO. I painted them a nice brown color and I am putting small little rhinestones on them. I only got the 'I' done before I ran out of rhinestones, but they are way cute. I will post pictures when I am completely finished with them.

I got some boxes that say Mr. one some and Mrs. on the others to use for putting the bridal party gifts in. Pictures on those to come later too.

I also got 4 little 'unfinished' topiary trees to use for table decorations at the reception. They are made out of paper mache and I plan on turning them into really pretty rose topiary.

When all of my projects are done I will most definitely post pictures of everything.

The big day is almost 7 months away. Time is going by sooo fast. AHHHHH

Spring time

I really enjoy Spring out here in AZ. I think it is the best weather AZ has to offer.

I have been in the mood to get some Spring items up in the house but I did not have any.

I went to the oh so wonderful Dollar Tree and found what I was looking for and more( isn't that how it always is there?)

This cute little flower was made with all things from the Dollar Tree.

I went back there the other day and bought 7 packs of the little clay pots. They come three in a pack for $1. No idea why I bought 7 of them but I am sure I will find a use for them :-)

This is pretty much a random post, but that's how I roll.

Garters

I am going to try & post some happy things for a bit.
I do not like being sad anymore so here goes.

Josh is EXTREMELY in love with the Chicago Cubs. I mean straight up obsessed. If he had it his way he would show up to the wedding wearing a Cubs jersey, seriously.

Well since he does not get his way, with this only of course;-), he will not be wearing the jersey.
I decided to get a Cubs garter made. I had someone on Etsy make it for me and I love it. It is nice and simple.

He saw it and he loves it. I originally wanted to keep it a surprise but I got too excited & showed him.

I got my wedding dress today and will do a post on that in the new day or so.

A sad night

I had a fun post planned for tonight but something happened that is more important.

One of my fiances extremely good friends died today.

He was such a good guy. He was the type of friend that you seem to only find once in your life.

We had some really good times with him. Him & his girlfriend would always come over to our house
on New Years eve and party the night away with us. They would spend the night here too.

He was only 26 years old. We have no idea what exactly happened to him. So far we have only gotten bits and pieces of info. It was not a car accident or anything like that. He died at his girlfriends apartment.

It is a very sad day for us. Josh is just so heart broken over losing him. He was supposed to be in our wedding.

Please pray for everyone involved.

I am REALLY going to try and stay on top of it this time, seriously. I have got a lot of wedding planning done.

It's been awhile...

It has been a little over a month since I have last posted. A lot has been going on.

I have got a lot of wedding planning done already!

So far we have the reception/ceremony location, DJ, photographer & officiant picked out and reserved. I have the invitations picked out. I got 50 of them for $20. I only have to print them up myself. They are simple and elegant, just the "theme" we are going for.

They are in a ivory color, and no that is not our info on them, it is the sample invitation the kit came with.

I have also made one of our save the dates. I had an idea of what I wanted but was not sure how it would look on paper. I am pretty pleased with it. Since the majority of our guests are from other states I figured something like this would be good to have.

The top thing is a magnet. I got them off Vista Print for free, all I had to pay for was shipping. I made these with card stock and different scrapbook papers. The magnet is held onto the paper with photo corners. The writing under the magnet reads, " The planning has started, the date is set, here is a magnet so you don't forget".

This wedding planning stuff is a lot of fun. It is amazing to me that some places are booked until 2011. I am glad we have all the major stuff booked and out of the way. All we really need to pick out vendor wise is a florist and someone to make the cake. We aren't having floral centerpieces. All we need are some bouquets, boutonnieres & corsages. Should be fairly cheap since all I want is roses.

I hope to be back to blogging more often. I have been feeling achy all over, kind of like I have the flu but I do not really have it. This has been happening off and on for a few years now. I get really sore all over and just feel like I have the bad flu but I don't. I have started to take some more vitamins so I am hoping that will help with it.

Other then that everything is going fairly well. Hope all is good with you all. I am SO happy the weather is finally starting to cool down.

So much has been going on lately!!

I am still SUPER giddy about getting engaged!

We have actually started to do some planning

We have the date and place set, November 06,2010 at a resort out here in AZ.

I met with the catering manager today to go over where I want the ceremony and reception and it made me even more excited, if that is possible.

I decided on my colors too, I wanted something that would look nice since it would be fall but nothing that would look too much like fall.

I decided on chocolate brown, ivory & champagne. I think they will go nice together and they will look good at the place where it is all going down too.

Now we are figuring out a budget and all that "fun" stuff.

I bought the invitations today and I love them. They are simple and elegant, best thing is the price $40 for 100. We are inviting approx 100 people and they came with several test sheets so it is perfect. I will be doing them myself but it should not be too hard. I just need to come up with some save the dates, but that should not be too hard. I am also going to be making the centerpieces myself, so any ideas are welcome!!

Gosh I feel like I am just rambling on but I can't help. Oh and I have lost 10 pounds woooo hoooo!!! I am going to put off buying a dress as long as I can, of course giving myself enough time for alterations and all that. On a not so happy note my ring has been gone since Saturday, poor thing is off getting sized and I miss her. Am I pathetic or what? I don't care, I am happy and in love. Life is good!

He asked me to marry him!!!!!!!!

I love my ring! He was worried I would not like it because he thinks it is too small.

He said down the line he will get me a bigger one. I do not care what size it is. It is my ring and its from him and that is all that matters!!!

A few makeovers, sorta

I really have not got to doing any projects this past week, it has been a crazy one.

I did get to a thing or 2. Nothing major but it makes a difference in the house.

This is not really a makeover, I didn't really do anything to the objects in the picture, just arranged them on a wall together. This was had nothing on it before. It looked so bare. I could not figure out what to put there and all of this seemed perfect to go there. I like how it is all set up .

These picture frames are from This post, so are the shelf and mirror from above. I just cut out some scrapbook paper that I had and put it in. These are all the colors that are in our house.

Here is a picture to show where they are hung in the kitchen. It is kind of a odd spot and nothing has ever been put there but I like how it looks.

Well that is all I got for now. I will be doing some more projects all through-out this week so stay tuned!

Bad Day Followup & A Piece Of Me

First off thank you so much to you all for your advice.

After much thought and long talks with people close to me I have decided to quit.

I do not like the fact that I am quitting something but I also can not stay in a environment that I feel is not good for me. I am EXTREMELY thankful that I was even given the chance to have a job there, as I do know how hard it is to get a job anywhere.

Another thing, which is super hard for me to say on here, is there is more to me needing to quit this job then I previously stated.

Looking at the picture that I have up you most likely can not tell but I am a very big girl. I have had a weight issue pretty much all of my life. When I say big girl, trust me I mean big not. Not one of those girls the weighs 150 and considers themselves morbidly obese. I am WAY bigger then that. With that all being said, shamefully, it is hard for me to stand on my feet for 8 hours a day. Because of my weight my body can not take me standing for that long. Yesterday after 2-3 hours I could already feel the affects of this. My whole body hurt, I was extremely hot. All around it was not a good thing. I wanted to cry.

I cam home and was in so much pain that all I could do was cry. Not only was is physical pain, it was a lot of emotional pain too. I cried to Josh and told him why it was so hard for me at work and he just said he loves me for me and it does not matter what I look like. He does want me to lose weight only for health reasons and so I feel better about myself.

This post is actually extremely hard for me to write. I am almost in tears. I can not really stand to look at myself in the mirror. I do not think I am a ugly person, I promise I am not conceited. I do not like the way I look or feel at all. I feel bad for Josh because I feel like I embarrass him when we are out together, even though he tells me time and time again that he does not feel that way. I am ashamed of myself. I am embarrassed of myself. I am sad.

Last night I got to talking to a girl I used to work with at a call center. She pretty much is in the same boat as me and weighs pretty close to what I do. Her doctor put her on a supervised diet. She has been on it for 3 weeks now and has already lost 24 pounds. She gave me all the information her doctor gave her about the diet. On Monday I am going to start this new lifestyle. I can no longer feel like this. I can not stand it for one minute. I don't want to die young because of weight and my primary doctor said if I don't do something about this sooner then later I may not see the age 40. I don't want to die, there is too much I want to do with my life.

I know some of you may not understand what I am going through. Some of you may even think that I chose to be this way and all I do is sit and eat my day away. I promise that is not it. I know I am the only one to blame for this. I also know I am the only one that can turn this around. This is such a hard thing to do. I can not believe I wrote all of this but in a way it makes me feel a tad bit better.

Bad day

That is what I had today. I had a horrible day. This job is not what I thought it would be at all. I figured it would be super easy, and it actually is. Let me explain. I get there and the manager told me that today would be a training day for me and if I felt comfortable enough I would be on the register for a little bit. Well he hands me some folder and said this is the training manual so read it or you can just go through it while you are on the register in training mode.

I figured I would read it and then go over it with him and he would explain everything to me. Nope, not even close. I was basically left to figure everything out on my own. He told me to just grab some items from the store and play around with ringing them up. He said he did not know how I was supposed to sign off the register so I would have to ask someone how to since he has never had to sign off. Hmm okay. So I am standing at this register left completely alone trying to figure out what to do. I was so lost but since it is pretty easy I eventually figured it out.

Now everyone knows CVS has all these different deals and sales all the time and there are a ton of coupons out there. Tons of people take advantage of them, as they should. I have never shopped there and had no idea how all of that works. Nobody explained to me their policy with coupons or anything. They never explained the programs they have or anything. I was left to tr and figure it out on my own.

They had some girl working in the photo department that was also working the registers and I guess she was supposed to help me, again no one told me anything to do at all. I asked her some questions, which she apparently thought I should already know but seeing how no one trained me in any way shape or form I had no idea. She then told me to get on the register and ring up the customer, mind you right in from of the customer, so I could not just say I was not ready to yet.

I was basically on the register for 6 hours by myself with no help. I felt like a total idiot having no idea what I was doing and taking forever. I was sitting down in the break room and the asst. manager came and sat down and I asked her how long I was supposed to work today since the store manager never told me. She said she thought the manager only wanted me to work 4-5 hours. Well I was way past that time frame. I asked her if I should just clock out or whatever and she said if you can stay longer then stay if not then go. I had to ask how to sign out since I was never taught. I quickly got in my car and left.

I came home and cried like a big fat baby. Today made me feel like a complete idiot. I was so lost and confused and had no idea what was going on. The manager asked ME what time I was working tomorrow and I was thinking to myself shouldn't you be the one telling me when I am supposed to work?

I told Josh all of this and he said I should just quit. I really want to but I really want to bring in extra money. And by the way I am considered part time but he is going to schedule me 2 hours under what full time would be considered each week. Sounds like they are just trying to get out of having to give me benefits. Today started out good and now I just want to crawl in a hole....

My little part time job.

So I got a little part time job at CVS. It's nothing major but it gives me something to do. It is really close to the house too so that makes it nice. I wanted to get a little job to keep me occupied. I think Josh and I could use the little break from each other each day since we both don't work.

It should be a fairly easy thing to do. I have register training tomorrow and the manager wants to start me on the register on Saturday. I used to work in a grocery store so I am pretty familiar with registers. One plus of working there is getting a 30% discount on CVS brand items and a 20% discount on National brand items. It will be nice during the holidays.

♥

So I am pretty excited. Will be nice to get out and feel productive outside of the house, and hey the extra cash in my pocket wont hurt too much either :-)

This cute guy was $1 from the dollar tree. It is not the best made thing but for a buck I thought it would be a cute fall decoration.

This is actually a bedskirt. It was $1.97 from CollectionsEtc. I am going to cut it up and make it into something.

These were from the Dollar Tree too. (ignore the white things on the ground, I was ripping open a package and as you can see it got pretty messy)

These next 2 things are also from Collections Etc. I really like that place. Lots of things for cheap and you can always find a good coupon code for them.
This Santa setup was only $4.97. It's different but I like it. I think the little figurines look a lot better in person.

I really like this set. I think it was $10. In person it is way cute. There is lots of little detail to it. I think I spent a total of, with shipping, $35 and I got like 8 things from the website.

The packs of leaves were 50 cents each & the raffia was $1. I plan on making a cute fall decoration out of this stuff, will show it later.
The recipe holder box was 47 cents, well actually everything in this picture was 47 cents each. I have all my recipes stored on the computer and sometimes it is a pain always running to it to check something. I think this stuff is so cute!! All the above stuff was from Michaels, love that place!

This was $1 from the dollar store. I don't have any dogs of that breed but the sign was too cute to pass up for only a buck.

Again I did not get much but I do like what a got and the price was pretty nice too!!

Here are a few things I have worked on lately. The first thing originally was a very ugly topiary. It had some very ugly brown stuff on it, I don't even know what it was. I stripped it down and this is what I ended up with.

I bought these from the dollar store.
And this is what I ended up with, I still need to add some more flowers but you get the idea. I don't think it looks too bad.

Josh brought these home for me the other day. How sweet huh? He went grocery shopping for me, which is always dangerous when he goes by himself. I could not go because my glasses were broken and, well I kinda need them to see. He did the shopping and went and got my glasses and surprised me with the pretty flowers. Such a lucky girl I am!

I have kinda been M.I.A for a few days, just have not really wanted to blog much. I am getting back into it tho. I have a few things I wants to post about in the next day or two so stay on the look out! Til next time....

A few finds

Today at Savers was nuts, there was SO much Halloween stuff out and it was just so crowded. I did not spend as much time in there as I usually do, but I did find a few goodies. Here they are...
I think these guys are pretty cute. They are about 9" tall. They were $1.99 each.

I have been really into candle sticks lately. These were 99 cents each I think. They will probably get spray paint black, possibly white.

I love that little bird tea light holder. I think it is very cute. It was a $1.50, same price as the rock that says Love. I got them both from Joann's in the 70% off clearance section.

This shelf is different. I don't really know what else to say about it but it stood out to me. It was $3.99 at Savers but I had a coupon and needed to spend so much to get a certain amount off so it was not too bad. I won't be painting it, probably just clean it up a bit and then hang it somewhere.

I got this stoneware bowl for free from Josh's mom. I have been wanting one like this for sometime now, so free was PERFECT for me.

My Love

I took this picture of Josh the other day when he fell asleep on the love seat. I think it is so funny. I had to take it with my cell phone, that's why the quality is not great, so that the camera would not wake him up. He always falls asleep here, and usually in the funniest ways.

He is my best friend, my better half, the love of my life etc. We have been together for about 2 and a half years. In that short amount of time we have had a lot of ups and downs. We have both been there for each other when we lost someone close to us. Most recently his dad. Who passed away in February from brain cancer. That was so hard on him. It was hard on everyone really but he always took him to his Chemo appointments and spent a lot of time with him. He gets teary eyed when we talk about him, I try not to bring it up too much.

Josh is such an amazing guy. I feel completely blessed to have him in my life. He gets along great with my family and loves them like they were his own, and vice versa. I love his family too, well most of them. His parents raised such a good man in him. I am very thankful to them for this.

He will do anything he can to really help anyone. He shares a love of animals with me, especially dogs. He has such a kind soul. I could go on and on about him. The subject of marriage has come up a lot lately with us. He point blank told me he wants to marry me but wants me to be surprised when he officially asks me. He told me I will have a ring on my finger before Christmas, we shall see. I know I will be more then honored to be his wife. By the way, I got his permission to post this picture, he thinks it is funny and reminds him of Al Bundy :-)

P.S. It is not lack of love, but a lack of friendship that makes a unhappy marriage.

Traditions

Some day-to-day traditions we have around here are pretty simple ones. I think sometimes it is the simple ones that mean the most though. Every morning when we first wake up we make sure we say good morning and ask how the other slept and always start the day off with a kiss, yes even if that means our breath is a bit stinky. We make sure we eat every single meal together, no matter if it is a small meal or a big one.

Every time one of us leaves the house we make sure we kiss each other and say I love you, You never know what could happen so if something, God forbid, terrible happened we would know the last thing we said to each other was I love you. Every night before bed we of course, say our I love yous too.

We don't have many day-today traditions but the little things we do mean a lot to us.

Orange Day

Clever title huh? I am the worst at coming up with a title name. I hope to get better in time, like fine wine, or something like that. Today was orange tag day at Savers and I went in planning to only get something with orange tags so it would only be 99 cents. I did not quite accomplish my mission, such is life. Here's what I got.

When I went last week I got the Christmas tree candle holders and when I got home I wished I had gotten the Snowmen too. I was so happy when I saw them there today. They were only 99 cents, with a green tag I might add. The black candle stand/holder was priced at $3.99 but it had a orange tag so only 99 cents for me. Yay. I am not going to paint it, for now. I will find something to put on top. It is actually pretty tall.

She was priced at 4.99 with a orange tag so I grabbed her up to. I will eventually paint her but I am not sure what color yet and/or where I will put her. She is also a tall lady. Why do I keep calling "it" her?

Bowls, gotta love em. I got all of these for $3 at WallyWorld. They were in the 4Th of July clearance section. They are pretty good plastic bowls too. Good find for me.

Now I really like this one! Anyone know what kinda jar it is? It comes off in 3 different sections. Was priced at $1.99 with a green tag so I paid full price but I really like it. I think it will be cute to put different colored M&M's in it around the different holidays.

I love you. I truly do. Thank you for being there for me when my brain decides to get creative. In the beginning we weren't the best of friends but over time we have become very close. We basically see each other every day. Am I bugging you? I hope I am not. I promise to always store you in the perfect temperature room and to keep your pipes from getting clogged. I hope our relationship with continue to grow and grow. I promise to add more color into your life. Right now I am just going through a black & white phase, but this too shall pass. Just a few thrifty things

I have not had a ton of time to go thrift shopping lately but these are some thrifty things I have got that, to me, are too good to not post about.

I LOVE these! They were given to me by Josh's mom. She did not want them anymore. I was more then happy to take them off her hands! They are in perfect condition and look brand new. She gave me the candles on top too. They are sitting in the bay window in the kitchen. They are pretty tall too so it gives the are some more height.

She also gave me a TON of towels. What am I supposed to do with all of these? there are a lot of hand towels and about 6 regular sized bath towels & a few washcloths. You can never have too many towels I guess, maybe you can and that is why she gave them to us? Oh well, I was very thankful to get them and I can use them as rags for around the house or whatever.

This cost me $10. My favorite color is pink and it's not a bad purse. I don't really like the silver design thing on the front but I can get over that. I love purses & already have too many as it is, is there really such a thing as a girl having too many purses, but I had to have it. It is one of those designer inspired purses & it still has the tag on it. It's a fun little find to me! I know I did not have much to post about this week bu I might have more to post about tomorrow. I am going thrift shopping and hope to find lots of goodies! Til' next time....

A few makeovers

Over the past couple of days I have been working on a few projects. I got a bunch of new spray paint. So I am pretty stocked for any future projects. All of the following projects were done with a 97 cents can of semi-gloss black spray paint from Wal-Mart. I still have a lot left in the can too so they came out to be pretty cheap projects, which makes me very happy! You can see the projects from before here.

I never posted an original picture of this but it was just a plain unfinished wood. I like it. Not sure if I will keep it here but for now it works. If you see that my oven is on it is because I have been baking cookies. My bf is a cookie pig so I made him a bunch, none for me, all for him.

I really like how this one turned out. I wish there were more of them!

These little mirrors came out pretty good (sorry that the mirror is dirty). I plan on making them into frames and putting a black & white picture of Josh and I in them. I have another project in mind for the mirrors.

Here is one of the wooden bowls I got. I decided to turn one of them into a candy dish. We always have a little dish of some kind of candy out and I figured it would go perfect with all the other colors in the kitchen. ( you can see the bag of white chocolate chips from me baking the cookies, I seem to always take pictures on the kitchen counter & I have no idea why.)

So there ya have it, a few of my little makeovers. There will be more to come. Til' next time...

Groom, Texas

Josh & I went to Texas a few weeks ago and while we were there we went to Groom, Texas. Home of the largest cross in the western hemisphere. You can read all about it here. Here are some of the pictures I took. I will let them explain themselves.

If you are ever out that way, it's about 30 mins from Amarillo I think. i recommend checking it out. it is quite the experience. Till next time....

I do not have many pictures of our backyard, or house for that matter.

But this is the one spot we like to spend time in in the summer.

Sometimes the pool is too warm and it's not even worth getting in but it feels a lot better then the 800 degree weather we have been having.

I told you our dogs like to be in pictures.

Happy Birthday To Me

Today I turned 24. I still feel like I am 18.

I had a good day today. Did not really do much but it was a relaxing day. I got money from Josh and my family, can we say shopping time? For a change Josh is going to make dinner tonight. My gourmet meal is going to be cheeseburgers and chips. :-)

I am very thankful that he is cooking tonight. He offered to take me out to dinner but I would rather just stay home and relax. I got a phone call or 2 from people wishing me a happy birthday but I communicated with most people today by text messaging. I think that works best for my family since everyone is always on the go. Oh well at least I talked to them somehow right?

Tomorrow Josh has to get up pretty early and drive to Vegas to pick up his aunts. It is about a 5 hour drive from here so he is just going to pick them up and then turn around and drive back home. This means I get the day to myself. I am going to clean out the kitchen and organize the cupboards and all that fun stuff. I am probably going to work on a project or 2 also.

How many of you have already started planning for Christmas? I know I have. I ordered my Christmas address labels and have my cards already. I have been buying some fabric when it has been on sale since I am going to be making a few quilts for Christmas. Ummmm, I have also listened to a few Christmas songs, okay it is more then a few it is A LOT. I can't help it though. Go ahead and laugh and me and call me crazy, I can handle it.

Yellow Tag Day

I went to Savers today because I knew they would be having their "special color tag" sale. Today it happened to be the yellow tag. Everything that had a yellow tag on it was 99 cents. So I made it my personal mission to only buy something that was 99 cents or had a yellow tag. Mission Accomplished. Here's what I got.

I actually saw these two little mirrors when I went 2 weeks ago and because they were priced at $2.99 each I did not want them. They had a yellow tag so I grabbed em' up. I am going to paint them a color, just not sure which one haha.

For some reason I really liked these bowls. They are actually pretty good wooden bowls. I don't think I am going o use them for food. I think I might paint them some kind of black and put something in them. Not quite sure on these ones yet.

The flip flop in the back is actually a really ugly yellow color. I am going to paint it white. The candle base is going to get painted glossy black and put somewhere, no idea where. I am going to put some candles on the black tray thingy. I think the little pumpkin is cute. It will be even more cute with a little tea light making him glow. The Christmas trees are tea light holders. You put the tea light in the back and the light glows through to the front. There were some cute white snowmen and I wish I got them. I always do that.

Metamorphosis Monday

This will be my second time participating in Metamorphosis Monday . You should go check out all the neat things people have 'morphed'. They really do an amazing job!

I have a few things that I have made into something other then what they originally were. Nothing major but I had fun doing it. They were also very cheap to do.

These 3 frames were $1. I used scrapbook paper for the background. I am going to put a dried Daisy in the 2 that do not have anything in them yet. Total for all three is $3. Not a bad cheap little project, in my opinion at least.

Don't mind my dog. She is very nosey and would not move. I got the vase for 50 cents. It had stickers on some parts of it but I took them off and cleaned it. You will see below what I did with it.

And I put it together like this. I don't think it came out too bad. It sits on top of a high top table in my kitchen.

I made one for the bathroom too. The rocks were $1 and the flowers were a big bunch with the ones above. I think this vase was $1 at the Dollar Tree. It adds a nice little touch to the bathroom.

I had fun making all of these. And for the few dollars I spent I think it was well worth it.

It's Thrifty Treasure Time over at Southern Hospitality. Be sure to go there to check out what everyone else has found!!

Here are some of my favorite thrifty finds. Some are recent, some are not.

This one was $3, but it also came with another one like it. I turned the other one into a chalkboard because it was all messed up and did not look good. I have this hanging on a wall in between a bunch of pictures of family.

Sorry this picture is a little blurry. I got this for $1 and it sits on top of the counter in our downstairs bathroom. Now that I think about it I am not sure a bathroom is the right place for it. Hmmmm....

I actually got this fabric on Ebay. It was a little more then I would like to pay, $13, but it is vintage fabric in excellent condition. I am going to use it for something I am making at Christmas, which by the way I am way looking forward to!

Paid $2 for this. I like it because it is different and tall. I can never find the right place for it so right now it is sitting in the bay window in the kitchen. I am sure it will be moved again.

Paid $5 for this. Was brand new in box. It looks cute when it is on and the water is running. It has a little light on the top that shines down on the water. It looks really pretty at night. Right now it is on the counter in the kitchen.

I LOVE this!!!! It is probably one of my favorite things in the house. Not sure why, I just adore it though. AND I did not pay a dime for this so I love it even more!!! It doesn't get much more thrifty then that. Free + Me = Best Friends for Life!

Our Furbabies

Thought I would show you all some pictures of our dogs. We are both huge animal lovers. If we could we would have more!!! Onto the doggies...

This is Mika. She is my 3lb Chihuahua. I got her from someone I worked with who rescued her. Her previous owners abused her and poked her with their drug needles. She was a mess when I got her. I have had her for a little over 2 years now. She has gone through a lot for being 5-6 years old. She has it good now. I would never let anything happen to her anymore!!

She is a happy lil dog now!

This is Sammy. We got her when she was about 5 months old. She is a very sweet dog. She is a Border Collie/Terrier mix. She likes long walks on the sidewalk, tennis balls, haha just kidding, but she does like that. We also have her sister Shooter.

This is Shooter, Shiloh & Sammy. Shooter is the one on the left and is Sammy's sister. Shiloh is the youngest of them all. She will be 1 in September The other 2 are a little over 2.

Shooter thinks she is Shiloh's mom. They all play together but Shooter and Shiloh are always together. They look like they could maybe be from the same litter but they are not. Shiloh is a St. Bernard/ Border Collie Mix and from a complete different set of dogs. It's funny, everyone that sees them thinks they are all sisters.

Shooter in our hotel room in Texas. We stayed at the Big Texan with all 4 of them! Her ears are always flipped up.

Sweet little Shiloh. She is definitely the baby of the bunch. She gets scared by loud noises. When the landscapers come the other ones sit by the window and watch them but she comes running up to Josh or I and puts her head in our laps. Sammy is not supposed to be on the couch, non of the dogs are except for Mika, but obviously she got away with it here :-)

Positive Day

Today is Positive Day in blog world which is being hosted here. Please go check it out!

I have tried to be a lot more positive lately.It just seems like everywhere you turn there is some form of negativity and I am tired of having it in my life. I choose to not get mad or frustrated at things I have NO control over, and for me that was a big thing. Of course there are a lot of things I could complain about but why? Why let myself get down when I have the CHOICE to be happy?

I am so thankful for all of the people in my life. Each person brings a different thing to the table. Josh, my boyfriend, is an amazing guy. You really don't find many guys like him around. I am POSITIVE that I will work better towards being all that I can be for him. I think he only deserves the best, as do I.

My family is pretty amazing too. In the end I know they will always be there for me. As they have all proven time and time again with me. I am truly blessed to have them as mine!

Grandmas Afghan

I am participating in a heirloom party hosted by Marie here. Thanks Marie for hosting this fun party!

This afghan is not exactly a heirloom but I hope for it to be someday. My grandmother made it for me when I was around 12. I love it. I hope to always keep it in my family and pass it down to my kids and then my grand kids and so on. I was going to edited these pictures so you would only see the afghan but I decided to keep it real, ha!

Please just ignore the bag of dog food you see. Pretend it's not even there. Thanks :-)

This last picture is just to kind of give you a idea of the size of it. It is actually quite big. It has held up through many washings. It's great.

There is another thing I would like to become a heirloom but I do not have a picture of it. It is a necklace charm I got when I turned 16 that says, "Sweet 16". My mom & Dad got it for me and I saved it so I could give it to my daughter, if I have one, if not I can always give it to a niece or some young girl in the family.

I do have a few pieces of jewelry from my great grandma who passed away recently but I don't have any pictures of those either. I have all that stuff packed away in a little box because I don't want anything to happen to it.

Thrifty Thursday, On Wednesday night

I told Josh I was going to Savers to look around and I would be back home in just a little bit. Well, 2 hours later I got home. He just does not understand how sometimes ya gotta really dig for stuff. I would walk by things at least 2 times and not see something I saw before.

I got the wooden box/basket/whatever for $1. I am going to spray paint it brown and put some rolled up towels in it & put it in the master bath, I think, could change. I love the brown bowl. It is very plain and simple but I love it. It is made of wood and has no scratches or anything on it. Got it for $1. Josh gets me roses a lot so I just took some dried up ones and put them in it and I actually have a white candle that I put in the center of the bowl. I got that quite awhile ago, but it's still very thrifty!

The mugs were 50 cents each. I love them, very much actually. The ladybug candle was $1 and it smells yummy! to me it is a very summer time candle. I have it in my kitchen and it does not match one thing in there but it's still cute. The set of Christmas candles were free. Can't get much better then that.

The 2 pictures on the wall are kind of hard to see but they were only $1 each and they go with the theme of my kitchen. I am not really even sure what the theme in my kitchen is though, oh well! Actually they candles you can kind of see in the picture were all free. Josh's mom gave them to me. I like her lots! This picture is from right by the sink. There's lots more stuff there but I will show ya that later.

I know it's kinda early to be doing a give away, since I just started my blog & all, but in honor of my birthday next week I want to give away a few goodies. There may only be a very few people that read my blog and that's fine, better odds of winning.

The candle is Clean Linen by Glade, it smells so..well clean! You can paint the believe sign however you choose to. The picture I believe is 8"x10", it's made of some kind of something, ha that helps doesn't it? Basically its not just the print, it is on some kind of board. The thing to put candles out, no idea what it's called, has never been used.

Thrift Store Makeovers

I finally got around to working on some projects last night. It was fun and now I only have a few more unfinished things to work on. I really like making over things with spray paint. It completely changes the item, and uh I kinda like the smell of spray paint, is that bad? Oh well onto the makeovers...

The mirror was a ugly brown color so with some white I think its pretty cute. The flower was a silver color and can be seen in its original 'beauty' here. I plan on putting something in the picture part of the flower just not sure what yet.

This wood sign was pretty scratched up and well it was just ugly so chalkboard spray paint it got. I like it. I used the plate stand, or whatever it is, from this post. I got a bunch of different colored chalk so I figured I could write some cute little thing for each season, holiday etc.

Here is the after. I think I am pretty happy with how they turned out. I did not realize the paint was a glossy finish until after it was done, duh, but I think I like it still. The color is exactly what I wanted them to be.

I had fun doing all of these things. It has just gotten me more excited about upcoming projects. I am a spray paint addict now and I am loving every minute of it!! Till Next Time......

Fun Finds

I did not actually purchase these things this week, I got them about 2 weeks ago I just never posted about it. Again sorry about the horrible quality of the pictures. I should get the new usb cord for my camera any day now. Until then just gotta deal with crappy cell phone pictures. Onto the goodies....

The little snowman candy dish was orig. $2.99 but I got it for 99 cents at Savers since it was a "blue tag" day. I think it is very cute and will probably put some Christmas colored candy in it. I got the little silver plate thingy? for 99 cents as well and cleaned it up and used spray paint chalk on it. It was actually my first spray paint chalk project. Did not turn out too horrible. I got the wood with 3 hooks for $1. I am going to use chalkboard spray paint on that too. Probably use it for dog leashes since we have about 5738579237 dogs, give or take a few.

These 2 things I did not spend a dime on, so to me that is pretty thrifty. Josh's mom gave them to me! They are from Candlelite and I have seen them on Ebay for around $50. People that are into the Candlelite stuff tell me they are pretty expensive pieces. I love them and when she gave them to me I was so happy. To me it does not get much better then that! So for a total of $2.98 I made out! Till next time....

Family Time

This weekend was a lot of fun. My Mom, Dad & 2 of my sisters spent some time with us on their way home from Arkansas. We hung out, talked & just had a good time. It's always nice to see them. I can't wait until the next time we all get to get together. They left early this morning and when I awoke to a empty quiet house I was kinda sad. I always get sad when I have to leave them or vice versa.

Today I decided that it would just be a relaxing day. I am going to work on some projects and look for some fabric to buy for Christmas presents I will be making this year. It's never too early to start ya know! I have a pretty good idea of what I will be making for people in our families.

I was going to go to Savers today since today is blue tag day. Which means everything that has a blue tag on it is only 99 cents today, but I think I am just not up to it today. I can always catch that sale next Monday. I can't believe I am going to be 24 next week. My gosh this year has gone by too fast. This year has had a lot of ups and downs, more on that later, but it has made me so thankful for what I have.

This turned into a pretty random post. Oh well, I am just like that sometimes. I think I might post some pictures later on, maybe maybe not. I had homemade salsa, crackers & diet Lipton tea for lunch, hows that for random? It was yummy. Tonight we are having pasta with a spaghetti type sauce(homemade) and sausage in it. It's cooking right now as a matter of fact. I am just rambling on so I think it's time to end this lovely little post. Till next time....

White Roses

Josh brought these home for me today. I love them!! They are actually white roses, my cell phone camera makes them look yellow. He is so sweet. Someday I am going to write a post on just him. It will be a very looong post.

My family is coming over tomorrow. I am excited. Josh is going to pick them up from the airport tomorrow night and then we will hang out by the pool and whatnot on Sunday. On Sunday we are going to go over to my grandmas house for a bbq and then my Mom, Dad & sisters will drive back to Cali early Monday morning I think. Should be a fun time.

I kind of have a lot to do today around the house but it should not take too long. We have to clean the pool, which will take up a lot of time because it's so dirty. There have been storms all this week so a ton of dirt has been blown into it, among all the other things. I might work on some projects tonight, who knows. The cookies I made yesterday were a MAJOR hit with Josh. In total he probably ate 15 of them. Yup he is a pig. They were the softest cookies I have ever made. This morning when he ate one he said they were still super soft. I think I found my new favorite recipe! Well I am off to dilly dally around the house. Till' next time....

Adventures In BlogLand

Today I have been messing around with my blog quite a bit. Trying to get it to look just how I want it and adding a few things here and there. I am not quite sure what I did but I somehow managed to completely change the whole layout of my blog and it messed all the colors up and a bunch more stuff. I could not figure out how to fix it. I read around on some different sites for tips and whatnot but none of them helped. I finally just figured it out myself, after a loooong time.

I am having a lot of fun with this. I have added a few things to the sidebar. I especially love the little music player. I still have a few things I want to figure out, like how to link the header of my blog to the homepage and how to post links in a actual post. I suppose all that info will come later, I hope, maybe?

I have not really got much of anything done around the house today. I have dinner cooking in the crock pot right now, it's a pork loin with a pork rub on it, a little bit of Worcestershire ( I still don't know how to say that word correctly) sauce and some onion soup mix. It is actually very yummy. I plan on making some chocolate chip cookies later on. It is too hot to turn the oven on right now. So all in all today has not really been that much of a productive day, but that's okay with me. I will get stuff done later. Hope the 3 people that read my blog had a good day. Till' next time....

Thrifty Finds

So today I decided to go to Savers ( one of our local thrift shops) and look around to see if I could find any goodies for the house. Lemme tell ya, thrift stores are nuts. There is so much crap there but if you take the time to look you will most likely find some pretty good things. I just recently got into thrift shopping. I love it! You can get some pretty decent things for way cheap. On the other hand they have some of the weirdest stuff there. Today I saw a brown blob thing. I have no idea what it was, but I do know what it reminded me of, and it was priced at $5.99. I could go to my backyard and get several of them brown blob things for free. I can certainly see why it was in a thrift store...

I spent $20.12 and got quite a few things for the house. I took pictures of it all and went to hook the camera up to the computer & I realized I did not have the usb cable. A few weeks ago I sold a camera on Ebay, and yup you guessed it, sent the wrong cable. Yeah I was pretty happy about it, made my day actually. I just ended up taking some pictures with my cell phone. So here ya go, pictures of what I got today.

The plate stand? is going to be used for a project that I am working on, will post about it later. The little chair, well I have not one clue what I am going to do with it, but it was only $1.00 and it's really cute. I am going to spray paint the flower white and will either put a cute picture in the middle or just put some chalk spray paint on it, not sure yet.

The big basket is for all of our dog toys, bones etc. They have so many and I hate how they are just all over the house. I think I am going to paint this basket some kind of a brown color, possibly some green color. Our house is mostly earth tone colors. The smaller glass jar I plan on putting q-tips or something like that in it to go in the master bathroom. The larger glass jar is going to get a little rectangle section on it painted with spray paint chalk. I am not sure what I am putting in this one yet but I will figure it out sooner or later, probably later. The bag of wreaths I am not exactly sure what I am going to do with them yet. I will probably decorate each one for each major holiday and display it around the house at the right time, as opposed to the wrong time?

These shelves I plan on spray painting a dark brown and putting them on one of my walls that is a lighter brown color. They are in pretty good shape with no scratches or anything. I am happy with them and we have basically no shelves on any of our walls so it works.

All in all today was a pretty good day. Got a few things for the house and a few new projects to work on. Savers is having a "sale" on Saturday so I will probably go back then to see what I can find, if anything at all. Well that's all I gotta say for now...

After reading ( lurking, stalking, etc..) many other blogs I finally decided to make my own. I have been so inspired lately by all the other blogs I check on a daily basis. I have no idea what this blog will be about or if anyone will even read it, but that's okay, I wanna do it anyways. I really have no idea how any of this works but I suppose it can't be too hard to figure out. I am going to have fun with it. I have a lot of free time on my hands right now so it should be updated quite often. So here's to my new adventure in blog land. I am sure it will be a fun one!!
